Update: Jackson County Central Strategic Planning Process – January Kickoff
This January, Jackson County Central will embark on an exciting strategic planning journey to revamp our operational plan. This initiative is designed to establish a clear and updated framework that will guide our district’s continuous improvement and ensure the best outcomes for our students. To support this effort, we are partnering with TeamWorks again, a respected organization specializing in strategic planning.
“Classroom to Boardroom” Approach
TeamWorks brings a unique methodology called “Classroom to Boardroom,” which reverses the traditional planning process. Instead of starting with the school board, the process begins with the most important voices in our district—our students, staff, and families. The insights gathered from these stakeholders will guide the planning process, culminating with the school board updating and refining our Strategic Roadmap, including the district’s vision card, three-year operational plan, three-board governance plan, and strategic directions.
Engaging Stakeholders for Authentic Feedback
TeamWorks will engage students, staff, and families by asking targeted questions that focus on their desired daily experiences in school, such as:
“When you engage with school, what is your desired daily experience?”
“What does that look like, sound like, and feel like?”
This approach shifts the conversation from broad, future-oriented goals to specific, relatable experiences. The feedback collected will form the foundation for the strategic planning team—comprising teachers and administrators—to revise and identify gaps in the operational plan that reflect the aspirations and needs of our community.
Crafting the Operational Plan
The updated three-year operational plan will serve as a roadmap for achieving the daily experiences stakeholders envision. It will include specific initiatives, activities, and building/department improvement plans, along with actionable steps to guide implementation and ensure fidelity/accountability.
Finalizing the Strategic Roadmap
Following the updating of the operational plan, TeamWorks will work with the school board and superintendent to draft the District Strategic Roadmap. This document will clearly define Jackson County Central’s Mission, Core Values, Vision, and Strategic Directions, aligning with the operational plan. Prior to final approval, all stakeholders—students, staff, and families—will have an opportunity to review and provide feedback on the roadmap via a survey.
Clarifying Roles: Governance and Management
Throughout this process, we will clearly distinguish between governance work, which is led by the school board, and management work, which is handled by district administrators. This clarity will ensure a collaborative and effective effort toward achieving a unified vision and purpose for Jackson County Central.
We are thrilled to engage with our community in this important initiative to shape the future of our district. Your input and support will play a vital role in helping us achieve our goals and uphold our core values for years to come.
